At Woodland we speak English, German, French, Spanish and some Portuguese.
Woodland is located in the district of Leiria in the center of Portugal, about three driving hours each from Lisbon in the south as well as from Porto in the north.
Lisbon and Porto are the two major international airports in Portugal. If you are planning to travel by plane, you will arrive at either one of these cities.
Now you have several options of how to continue your journey to Woodland (please note that in the following, the mentioned travel costs are refering to one-way only):
- from Lisbon you can take the train to Pombal, where we will pick you up from the Station. Pick up fee from Pombal is 35 Euros. The train ticket will cost you around 16 Euros. Total: aprox. 52 Euros.
- Both from Lisbon as well as from Porto buses go to Figueiró dos Vinhos (with aprox. 14 km distance the closest town to Woodland). If you depart from Porto, you will have to change the bus in Coimbra. From Lisbon, some buses require changing in Coimbra as well but there are direct buses to Figueiró dos Vinhos also. Once you arrive in Figueiró dos Vinhos at the bus station, you may take one of the Taxis waiting in front or we will pick you up there. Bus ticket prices are around 15 Euros. Taxi: 13 Euros. Alternative Pick up: 11 Euros. Total: aprox. 28 Euros
- A third option is that we pick you up at the Airport directly. Pick up fee in this case is 195 Euros.
Additional notes
In making your flight reservations please arrange your arrival at Lisbon Airport to be not later than 12:00 o´clock. This is important in order to catch the connections to Pombal/ Figueiró and to arrive at Woodland Health Retreat without complications, so you will be able to check in comfortably. If you have a late flight to Porto or Lisbon with no further travel connections, we recommend continuing your journey the following day. Both Porto and Lisbon posess a good tourist infrastructure and provide a great variety of hotels and hostels.
We do recommend favoring flights to Lisbon rather than to Porto. The transfer connections from airport Lisbon to the bus or train station are easier, cheaper, more frequent and shorter. Both bus and train station are directly connected to the metro system and easy to find. Besides, there is also a Shuttle service from the Airport to these stations. In Porto on the other hand, after a 35 min. metro ride you will still have to walk about 1 to 1.5 kms with all your luggage in order to get to the bus or train Station. The bus station is not well-signposted and you might have difficulties locating it, even though it is central. Taxis are not reccomandable, as they are not reliable in regard to fair charging!
